Finding the Bright Side of Happy

You may be wondering what “The Bright Side of Happy” actually means. Well, let me tell you a little story.

The Bright Side of Happy is a feeling. It’s a destination. It’s that little piece of nirvana you might be searching for.

For me in particular, it’s the happy I found after going through a rough patch. It’s that moment when I finally paused and realized with clarity that I made it to the other side of my struggle.

It’s a feeling that life finally clicked again, that I found a part of the old me I had lost in the dark. And it was finding a rhythm that I had lost after my celiac disease diagnosis.

You see, I found going gluten free to be really hard. It was lonely, confusing, and overwhelming. There was so much information to wade through, and doing it while I felt like crap was dang near impossible.

And then I made it through all that and transitioned, but then I STILL didn’t feel any better.

So while trying to sort that out (turns out I was eating other stuff my body hated, along with processed food that was no good for me!), I was grieving.

Grieving for Taco Bell CrunchWraps, cinnamon rolls, real bread, crab rangoon, and all the stuff I could never eat again in their gluten-filled glory.

And I was grieving for the convenience and ease of life that I would never, ever have again.

No more spontaneous happy hour stops for shared appetizer platters, no more impromptu road trips without insane planning, no more anything on the fly.

I had started to wonder…could I ever be happy again? Could I be happy in this gluten-less life?

Because it seems so silly, to grieve a protein found in wheat, rye, and barley. A little molecule. Silly to let something so small rule my approach to life and affect my relationships. But yet there I was, crying every night about it.

And then I started doing some research and put a whole lot of things into practice.

I learned how to fuel my body the right way. How to manage my stress. How to organize myself and my family. How to approach life in a mindful way that lets me actively choose JOY every single day.

Along the way, I let go of a lot of beliefs that weren’t serving me, and that revelation was hugely freeing. I realized I can do anything and be anything, that my life really only has limits that I impose.

And then I found it. I found the Bright Side….and realized I was HAPPY!

That’s when I decided to go to coaching school and get certified as Health & Life Coach, so I could be truly effective in helping others find their Bright Side. And I put a program around everything I learned.

It’s not just about going gluten free, or cutting the processed junk. It’s also about all that stuff going on behind the scenes that impacts you every single day.

So if you’re currently stuck and on the wrong side of happy – whether it’s because you just received a medical diagnosis like I had and you need to change A LOT in your life, or you feel restricted by what you can or can’t eat, or you hate your job but just don’t know how to leave it, or even if you feel called to do something greater and you’re just not sure what…

Whatever you are struggling with, just know that you CAN find the Bright Side of Happy.

I’m happy to tell you more about how I did it, and I want to learn more about your struggles too! Send me an email, or message me on Facebook or Instagram. I can’t wait to hear from you!

See you on the Bright Side. 🙂
